What is Marble?

Most people’s view of marble are the sweeping staircases that were featured in Dallas and Dynasty. But things have moved on and marble is now openly available for everyone - not just the rich and famous.

Marble is just crystallized limestone. It comes in many different colours and usually displays a veining pattern. It’s nice to think that marble has been marked with the veins of time, and each and every mark has a piece of history stuck in it. Marble isn’t for everyone. It’s more porous than granite, which makes it more susceptible to staining and therefore is more suitable for foyers, bathrooms, fireplaces or libraries. it is common to use marble with a lightly polished finish, which does effect the slip resistance of the floor - so just bear that in mind if you’ve got young children running around.
